Keep a character guide up to date
Refresh
Choose Refresh at the top of your guide to sim your character again. While it sims, the guide is tagged Refreshing and shows its last result.
Without Premium, you can refresh a guide once a week, after your region's weekly reset. If your gear, talents and the patch haven't changed, nothing sims and the refresh is kept.
When a guide can't refresh, Refresh shows a lock. Hover or tap it to see why.
A guide whose result is behind your character is tagged:
- Gear changed: an item, its item level, an enchant or a gem has changed since its result.
- New patch: a patch has come out since its result.
A note under the tags says what changed and what happens next. Where the guide can refresh, the note ends with an arrow pointing up at Refresh. While your week's refresh is spent, the note links a Stat weights sim of your new gear, outside the guide.
Updates on their own
With Premium, your guides are simmed again at each weekly reset, once your character has logged in and their gear, their talents, the patch or SimulationCraft has changed since the last result. When the gear or the patch has moved on, the guide's note names the day of its next weekly update, and you can refresh it before then. An email on reset day lists the guides that changed.
Its tag says where a Premium guide stands:
- Up to date: the last weekly check found nothing new since its result, and neither tag above applies.
- Paused: your character hasn't logged in for a while, so weekly updates wait until they do.
After a patch
Without Premium, your guide asks you to refresh it for the new patch, for free, and keeps the earlier result a link away. With Premium, the guide shows its result's patch until the weekly update re-sims it on the new one, once your character has logged in.
See what changed
From a guide's second result, Changes & history shows what changed since the one before, and lets you open an earlier result.
