Character Sim Rotation Options
Character sims on Noxxic now support a Rotation setting. You can sim using the standard SimulationCraft APL, or switch to Assisted Highlight or One Button to match how you actually play in-game.
Default uses the community-maintained SimulationCraft APL for your spec — this is the standard rotation that assumes optimal ability usage.
Assisted Highlight models Blizzard's in-game rotation helper (internally, SimC calls this the Blizzard Action List). It assumes you follow the highlighted ability suggestions and manually use cooldowns.
One Button models Blizzard's Single-Button Assistant — hold one button and the game picks your abilities. This is the lowest-complexity option.
Why it matters
If you play with Assisted Highlight or One Button enabled in-game, simming with the default APL gives you numbers that don't reflect your actual gameplay. Switching the rotation setting to match can change your stat weights, shift which build comes out ahead, and give you a more honest benchmark to gear against.
SimC support varies by spec
These rotation modes depend on the underlying class module in SimulationCraft. Some specs have solid support, others don't — and a few are currently broken enough that we block or warn against using them. We'll keep the blocklist updated as SimC improves support.
When in doubt, use Default. It's the most reliable baseline across all specs.
To try it: open , pick a sim type, and set the Rotation option under Advanced Options.
