DPS Rotation & Cooldowns

During combat you are constantly making decisions for what to cast next. Knowing what to do and when is critical for being effecting at DPS. This rotation guide should help give a basic understanding of what to do, what's most important, and how to prioritize Arms Warrior abilities and cooldowns.

Single Target Rotations

Pre-Execute Phase

Use this rotation when the target’s health is too high to activate Execute.

  1. Skullsplitter (when < 60 rage)
  2. Warbreaker (replaces Colossus Smash)
  3. Overpower (buffs Mortal Strike)
  4. Mortal Strike (maintains Deep Wounds)
  5. Bladestorm
  6. Whirlwind (because of Fervor of Battle)

Execute Phase

Use this rotation when the target’s health allows Execute to be used.

  1. Skullsplitter (when < 60 rage)
  2. Warbreaker
  3. Bladestorm (when <30 rage)
  4. Overpower
  5. Execute

The major difference is using Execute instead of Mortal Strike, and prioritizing Bladestorm ahead of Overpower since you're no longer trying to buff Mortal Strike.

AoE Rotation

Use this rotation when attacking more than 3 targets.

  1. Sweeping Strikes
  2. Skullsplitter (when <60 rage)
  3. Warbreaker
  4. Bladestorm
  5. Execute (when Sweeping Strikes is active)
  6. Mortal Strike (when Sweeping Strikes is active)
  7. Whirlwind
  8. Overpower

Note: It is considered a waste of Sweeping Strikes to use before Bladestorm, so avoid activating it if Bladestorm will be casted soon.

Important Cooldowns

These are effective cooldowns to try and incorporate in each encounter.

General Cooldowns

Talent Cooldowns

  • Avatar Use on cooldown for burst damage.
  • Deadly Calm Use on cooldown for burst damage. Try to use with 0 Rage.
  • Ravager Use as often as possible, especially for burst AoE damage.
