DPS Rotation & Cooldowns

Note: This page is not yet updated for the latest patch of 10.0 in WoW Dragonflight.

During combat you are constantly making decisions for what to cast next. Knowing what to do and when is critical for being effecting at DPS. This rotation guide should help give a basic understanding of what to do, what's most important, and how to prioritize Elemental Shaman abilities and cooldowns.

Single Target Rotation

  1. Keep Totem Mastery active
  2. Keep Flame Shock (refresh when <6 seconds until expire)
  3. Fire Elemental
  4. Earth Elemental (See Note 1)
  5. Lightning Bolt (See Note 2)
  6. Earth Shock (See Note 3)
  7. Stormkeeper
  8. Earth Shock (if >90 Maelstrom)
  9. Frost Shock (if Icefury and Master of the Elements are active)
  10. Lava Burst
  11. Frost Shock (if Icefury is active)
  12. Icefury
  13. Earth Shock (if >60 Maelstrom)
  14. Lightning Bolt (See Note 4)

Note 1: Only cast Earth Elemental when Fire Elemental is not already up and you are not using Primal Elementalist.

Note 2: Lightning Bolt is only this high in the priority chain if Stormkeeper is active.

Note 3: Earth Shock is only this high in the priority chain if >60 Maelstrom and Master of the Elements is active.

Note 4: Use Lightning Bolt when there's nothing else to do and you are standing still. If moving, use Frost Shock instead.

AoE Rotation

  1. Keep Totem Mastery active
  2. Stormkeeper
  3. Keep Flame Shock active on 3-4 targets
  4. Earthquake (See Note 5)
  5. Chain Lightning

Note 5: Try to align Earthquake with Master of the Elements

Important Cooldowns

  • Bloodlust Epic group cooldown. Use as directed by your party/raid leader.
  • Fire Elemental Cast with as many self-buffs as possible to maximize DPS.
