# Sim modes

A mode is the fight a sim runs. Pick one under **Choose a mode** on any sim's setup page.

## Which mode to pick

- **Single Target**: Raid and dungeon bosses.
- **Cleave**: A boss with an add, or a small pack.
- **AoE**: Mythic+ packs and big pulls.
- **Solo**: Delves and world content.
- **Mass AoE**: The biggest pulls.

Running Mythic+? Sim Single Target for bosses and Cleave or AoE for trash. To compare stats or items, use Single Target. Extra targets and movement make those sims slower, and stat weights noisier.

Under **Choose a mode**, a mode marked with a tier, such as **Tier 2**, runs on that tier of [Premium](https://www.noxxic.com/premium) and above. Making your own modes takes Tier 3.

## See what a mode sims

The [Sim modes page](https://www.noxxic.com/presets) lists every mode. Choose one to see **The fight**, **Food and flasks** and **Group buffs**.

## Make your own

1. On that page, choose **New mode**, or open a mode and choose **Make a copy**.
2. Name it, and set the fight, food and flasks, and group buffs.
3. Choose **Create mode**.

Your modes show under **Choose a mode** on every sim. To change one, open it and choose **Edit mode**.
