# Read a sim report

Updated Nov 2026

The top of the report names the sim, the mode and the rotation it ran. The line under it says who was simmed and how SimulationCraft ran it.

## DPS and its margin

Every DPS is an average over many simulated fights. Procs and crits roll differently each time, so no sim gives the same number twice. In a results list, the dot is the average and the line through it is how far that luck can swing it.

## Ties

Rows that share a rank are a tie. The gap between them is smaller than that swing, so either could come out on top next time. Pick whichever you like playing.

## Upgrade options

[Item upgrades](https://www.noxxic.com/docs/item-upgrades) explains how to read an option.

## The sections

- The results, named for the sim, such as **Best build results**: what it ranks or measures.
- **Simulation details**: your DPS over the fight, the **Damage breakdown** by ability, the **Ability timeline** of one sample fight on the sims that have one, and the gear and talents that ran. At its end, **Run details** lists where the gear came from, the mode, the rotation and the SimC build.
- **Common questions**: starting with **Why doesn’t this match my DPS in-game?**

## Share it or run it again

- To share it, open the menu at the top of the page and choose **Copy share link**. Anyone with the link can view this report.
- To sim again, choose **Run again** at the top. The setup page opens with this run's settings.
