Below is the recommended Talent Build & Glyphs guide for Retribution Paladin at level 100. These recommendations are based on a combination of extensive play testing to assess the overall usefulness and power of each talent.
Below is the recommended build. Click the + symbol to read more about each talent. The selected talents are simply our general recommendation, your play style and group needs should be a priority when choosing your build. The talent descriptions include some additional advice on when different talents are the most appropriate choice.
- 15Speed of LightLong Arm of the LawPursuit of Justice
Speed of Light offers a large movement speed boost that can be used when needed to close gaps or escape from other players. However, the easy uptime on Long Arm of The Law is often a better choice for Retribution PvP.
Long Arm of The Law is the best choice for situatons where you are able to use Judgment freely and regularly to maintain a high uptime on the movement speed boost. The ease of maintaining the movement speed boost from Long Arm of The Law makes it a very appealing choice in most fights.
- 30Fist of JusticeRepentanceBlinding Light
Fist of Justice provides an instant-cast ranged stun that is useful in virtually every PvP scenario.
Repentance offers a strong form of crowd control, but is often susceptible to early breaking due to the high prevalance of DoTs and cleaves in PvP gameplay.
Blinding Light provides a potent form of AoE crowd control that is most useful in fights where you need to control mutliple opponents. However, the long cooldown makes this talent somewhat difficult to use in PvP.
- 45Selfless HealerEternal FlameSacred Shield
Selfless Healer provides the opportunity for flexible self healing or team healing that is passively developed as you use Judgment. As Retribution, is easy to spam Judgment and stack up the buff to provide potent heals quite frequently.
Eternal Flame offer a strong instant-cast HoT. As Retribution, Eternal Flame competes too heavily with other Holy Power-consuming abilities and does not make for a good PvP talent.
Sacred Shield provides damage absorption, but is generally not as helpful as the straight healing provided by the other talents in this tier.
- 60Hand of PurityUnbreakable SpiritClemency
Hand of Purity provides mitigation againt DoT abilities, but its uses are limited and provide less overall utility than the other talents in this tier.
Unbreakable Spirit makes it possible to more frequently use your most potent defensive cooldowns. This talent is useful in situatons where you expect to be a focused target and need to use those big cooldowns as frequently as possible. As Retribution, Unbreakable Spirit is a somewhat weak choice. You do not benefit as much from the extra damage mitigations as you do from other talents in this tier.
Clemency offers the most flexible use of any talent in this tier. Double charges on Hand spells are useful in nearly every fight for supporting yourself or your team. As Retribution, Clemency is quite useful as it allows a great deal of flexibility and the extra Hand spells can easily save your team.
- 75Holy AvengerSanctified WrathDivine Purpose+
- 90Holy PrismLight's HammerExecution Sentence
Holy Prism provides a solid damage and healing combo that is easy to work into your PvP rotation. As Retribution, Holy Prism tends to fall behind other talents in this tier, in terms of potential damage output.
Lights Hammer offers area damage and healing, but it is difficult to use in PvP scenarios against highly mobile targets. It is not generally recommended.
Execution Sentence offers the highest potential single target damage of the talents in this tier. As Retribution, Execution Sentence provides the most single-target burst damage, especially if it gets dispelled.
- 100Empowered SealsSeraphimFinal Verdict
Empowered Seals provides additional buffs that are applied and maintained with Judgment. Each Seal provides a different buff.
Major Glyphs are all highly situational. Your Glyph choices will largely depend on your team and class composition.
