Talent Build & Glyphs for Fire Mage in PvP | Latest Patch 6.2.3
Below is the recommended Talent Build & Glyphs guide for Fire Mage at level 100. These recommendations are based on a combination of extensive play testing to assess the overall usefulness and power of each talent.
Below is the recommended build. Click the + symbol to read more about each talent. The selected talents are simply our general recommendation, your play style and group needs should be a priority when choosing your build. The talent descriptions include some additional advice on when different talents are the most appropriate choice.
- 15EvanesceBlazing SpeedIce Floes
Evanesce provides a strong survivability boost that is useful in almost every fight.
Blazing Speed offers a useful movement speed boost, but is generally less useful than the survivability boost offered by Evanesce.
Ice Floes allows you to cast while moving, but is generally less useful than the survivability boost offered by Evanesce.
- 30Alter TimeFlameglowIce Barrier
Alter Time is a solid choice for advanced players who can maximize the use of the damage mitigation mechanic.
Flameglow is the weakest talent of the tier, as it provides the least amount of help in reducing burst damage.
Ice Barrier is a viable alternative to Alter Time. It is often better suited for players who want an ability that is easier to use, or who are playing without a healer and need to be able to instantly stop damage that might otherwise kill them.
- 45Ring of FrostIce WardFrostjaw
Ring of Frost provides strong group crowd control and is useful in most every encounter.
Ice Ward is most helpful when you expect to be fighting a lot of melee players who will be in frequent range of the freeze mechanic. Otherwise, Ring of Frost is a better choice.
Frostjaw is the least useful talent of this tier. Ring of Frost provides more overall utility as a crowd control ability.
- 60Greater InvisibilityCauterizeCold Snap
Cauterize can temporarily prevent your death, but leaves you at a major disadvantage and likely to just die anyways. Plus, it offers much less overall utility than Cold Snap.
Cold Snap is extremely powerful, as it provides a burst heal, damage, and resets all of your major PvP cooldowns. The utlity offered by Cold Snap is unmatched by competing talents.
- 75Living BombUnstable MagicBlast Wave
Living Bomb offers the strongest single target damage boost of this tier and is most useful when you need to apply pressure to a single target.
Unstable Magic provides a passive damage boost that is easy to use, but also a bit unreliable in PvP gameplay.
Blast Wave offers the strongest AoE burst damage potential of this tier and is most useful in fights where you need to apply strong AoE damage.
- 90Mirror ImageRune of PowerIncanter's Flow
Mirror Image offers a potent burst damage cooldown that is useful in most PvP encounters.
Rune of Power is difficult to use in PvP. You do not often have the luxury to stand still and maintain the damage buff.
Incanters Flow offers a passive damage buff that provides a moderate boost to overall damage, but lacks the burst damage potential of Mirror Image.
- 100KindlingPrismatic CrystalMeteor
Kindling reduces the cooldown on Combustion when you land a critical strke with one of your core spells.
Meteor deals a high amount of AoE damage to a targeted area on a reasonable cooldown.
Major Glyphs are all highly situational. Your Glyph choices will largely depend on your team and class composition.
