Stat Priority (5.4.8)
Stats are the core of your character and how you choose to balance those stats will greatly impact the effectiveness of your Arcane Mage. Use this guide to select the stats that are the most important for your Mage and learn how to prioritize those stats to optimize your performance.
Spell Hit (6%) > Intellect > Mastery > Haste > Crit
PvP Resilience and PvP PowerPatch 5.3 introduced major changes to PvP Resilience and PvP Power to reduce their effectiveness. In general, traditional secondary stats like Crit, Haste, and Mastery are now much more effective in PvP. Our stat priorities are based on the best available information, but we expect our recommendations to change as the PvP season progresses.
Spell Hit (6%) The Hit cap of 6% (2040 Rating) will eliminate the chance for any special ability to miss against other players. To check your Hit, open your character panel and then look under the Spell tab for “Hit Chance” and make sure it is at or just above 6%.
Intellect Increases damage and healing dealt by all spells and slightly improves critical strike chance.
Mastery Mastery Mana Adept increases all spell damage done based on the amount of Mana available, being most effective when closest to 100% Mana.
Haste Decreases cast time of all spells and increases DoT ticking speeds.
Crit Increases the chance for your attacks to critically hit for additional damage. Thanks to Shatter, Arcane Mages can reach high effective Crit rates with minimal Crit from their gear. It is possible for Arcane Mages to effectively hit 100% Crit when hitting frozen targets. At 25% Crit, you will effectively have a 100% Crit rate against frozen players. Arcane Brilliance lowers the Crit required from 25% to 20%. If you are using Molten Armor, then this amount is further reduced from 20% to 15% Crit from your gear.
