DPS Rotation & Cooldowns for Arms Warrior in PvE | Latest Patch 6.0.3

Select a gear item level to improve the accuracy and relevancy of this guide.

The following rotation guide was developed through extensive simulations and play testing with the goal of keeping the guide as simple as possible without sacrificing performance. This guide also included AoE rotations and provides details on when to use special talents and cooldowns.

Single Target Rotation

Stance: Battle Stance

Normal Priority: Execute this priority while waiting for Colossus Smash.

  1. Rend maintained at all times. Refresh with <= 5 sec remaining.
  2. Execute with >= 60 Rage and target is below 20% health.
  3. Mortal Strike on cooldown when target is above 20% health.
  4. Colossus Smash as often as possible.
  5. Whirlwind as a filler ability when target is above 20% health.
  6. Run out of range and Charge back for additional Rage.

Colossus Smash Priority: Execute this priority when the Colossus Smash debuff is up.

  1. Execute on cooldown when target is below 20% health.
  2. Mortal Strike on cooldown when target is above 20% health.
  3. Whirlwind as a filler ability when target is above 20% health.
  4. Run out of range and Charge back for additional Rage.

Arms Warrior DPS swaps between two different priorities based on the presence of the Colossus Smash debuff.

When the Colossus Smash debuff is not up, you should execute the Normal Priority listed above. You will want to use Colossus Smash as soon as it is available and move to the Colossus Smash priority. If Colossus Smash is not available, then continue with the Normal Priority by maintaing the Rend bleed at all times. Rend may be refreshed whenever it has <= 5 sec remaining. Next, use Execute as a Rage dump when you have >= 60 Rage and your target is below 20% health. Use Mortal Strike on cooldown when the target is above 20% health and Whirlwind as a filler ability when the target is above 20% health. When the target is below 20% health, you will save most of your Rage for additional Execute and no longer use Mortal Strike or Whirlwind.

With the Colossus Smash buff up, you should execute the Colossus Smash Priority listed above. To do so, you will use Execute as your Rage dump when the target is below 20% health. Otheriwse, when the target is above 20% health you will use Mortal Strike on cooldown and Whirlwind as your filler ability and Rage dump.

Also, during either rotatin priority you may gain some additional Rage by running away from your target to use Charge. Only do this when your other abilities are on cooldown and you need additional Rage.

AoE Rotation

With multiple targets, activate Sweeping Strikes and proceed with the single target rotation. Maintain Rend on 4-5 targets and use Whirlwind as your primary Rage dump while continuing to moved between the Normal and Colossus Smash rotations. Finally, only use Execute when there are <= 3 targts, otherwise save the Rage for additional Whirlwind.

Talents

Below is advice on how to use the performance-enhancing talents that were selected in this guide.

  • Slam replaces Whirlwind in your single target rotation.
  • Storm Bolt should be used on cooldown for additional damage. Always try to use Storm Bolt on targets that are immune to stuns for the additional damage.
  • Bloodbath should be used on cooldown for additional damage.

Effective Cooldowns

These are effective cooldowns to try and incorporate into most all encounters.

  • Recklessness Use as often as possible. Stack with other DPS cooldowns.
