Heal Rotation & Cooldowns (5.4.8)

Maintaining a proper Rotation and using the right Cooldowns is essential to maximizing your Holy Priest. Use this guide to optimize your single target and AoE rotations while learning how to get the most out of your cooldowns.

Single Target Rotation

Buffs: Maintain these buffs at all times.

Healing Priority: Use this spell priority for single target healing.

Holy Priest single target healing follows the priority above. Use Renew and Holy Word Serenity as much as possible and work your way down the priority based on the amount of damage received by your target. Generally, Holy Priests will only be asked to assist with single target healing as they are better at AoE healing.

There are two procs/buffs that Holy Priests need to manage: Divine Insight and Serendipity. Divine Insight is activated by Greater Heal and should be consumed by Prayer of Mending as soon as possible. Serendipity is provided by Flash Heal and Binding Heal and is best consumed by Greater Heal.

Finally, Holy Priests may also slightly contribute to raid DPS during times of low healing thanks to Evangelism. If you have a few spare cooldowns and no healing to do, then feel free to cast Holy Fire and Smite.

AoE Rotation

Chakra: Chakra Sanctuary

While AoE healing, you can take advantage of Serendipity by using Binding Heal once or twice for a quicker and cheaper Prayer of Healing. Watch for Divine Insight procs and quickly consume them with Prayer of Mending.

Effective Cooldowns

These effective cooldowns are available if you chose them in your talent build.

These are effective cooldowns to try and incorporate into most all encounters.
