Tank Rotation & Cooldowns for Protection Paladin in PvE | Latest Patch 7.0.3

Click for article on our patch 7.0.3 update progress for these guides. Pew pew!

The following rotation guide was developed through extensive simulations and play testing with the goal of keeping the guide as simple as possible without sacrificing performance. This guide also included AoE rotations and provides details on when to use special talents and cooldowns.

Single Target Rotation

Tanking Priority: Execute this priority to build threat and deal damage.

  1. Judgment on cooldown to further reduce the cooldown of Shield of The Righteous.
  2. Hammer of The Righteous when available to proc Grand Crusader.
  3. Avengers Shield with or without Grand Crusader.
  4. Consecration on cooldown.

Active Mitigation: Consume Holy Power with these skills to mitigate damage.

Protection Paladin single target tanking priority mostly involves using Judgment and Hammer of The Righteous on cooldown for the various procs and buffs they provide. Beyond that, use Avengers Shield and Consecration on cooldown to maximize your threat and damage.

Remember to use Light of The Protector as often as possible for a potent self-heal, especially while standing in Consecration. Shield of The Righteous is your primary mitigation ability and should be used whenever you have 2+ charges.

AoE Rotation

The Protection Paladin AoE rotation is more or less identical to the single target rotation. Keep Consecration down and use Hammer of The Righteous as often as possible while executing the rest of the single target rotation.

Information on how to incorporate the selected talents from this guide into your rotation is currently being re-worked for 7.0.3. Check back later!
