Arcane Mage DPS Guide

Level 110, Patch 7.1

Arcane Mage PvE DPS Rotation - 7.1

Below is our guide for prioritizing your Arcane Mage abilities optimally. This should help give you a basic understanding of what to do and what's most important to focus on. Keep in mind that simply following this (or any other) rotation guide will not guarantee you to be amazing at DPS. How aggressively you execute the rotation, how fast and intelligently you react in encounters, your FPS, latency, etc. play a large part in the end-result of your performance. We encourage you to really focus on those things and perfect this rotation if you're very performance-focused.

Single Target Rotation

Conservation Priority: Execute the following priority for optimal DPS to conserve Mana while Evocation and Arcane Power are on cooldown.

  1. Rune Of Power with 2 charges (if selected).
  2. Arcane Orb with 0 Arcane Charge (if selected).
  3. Nether Tempest maintained with 4 Arcane Charge (if selected).
  4. Arcane Missiles with 3 Arcane Missiles charges or 2+ Arcane Charge.
  5. Supernova when available (if selected).
  6. Arcane Barrage when you drop below 70% Mana.
  7. Arcane Blast to build Arcane Charge.

Burn Priority: Execute the following priority for optimal DPS when Evocation and Arcane Power are available and you have 4 Arcane Charge.

  1. Evocation as needed regain Mana.
  2. Rune Of Power maintained as much as possible (if selected).
  3. Arcane Power as soon as possible.
  4. Arcane Missiles whenever available.
  5. Arcane Blast as a filler spell.

The Arcane Mage DPS priority involves cycling between a Conservation Phase and a Burn Phase based on the availability of Evocation and Arcane Power.

Execute the Conservation Phase when Evocation and Arcane Power are on cooldown.

Initiate the Burn Phase when Evocation and Arcane Power are available.

AoE Rotation

  1. See single target rotation.
  2. Replace Arcane Blast with  Arcane Explosion to build Arcane Charge with 3+ targets.
