DPS Rotation & Cooldowns (5.4.8)

Maintaining a proper Rotation and using the right Cooldowns is essential to maximizing your Survival Hunter. Use this guide to optimize your single target and AoE rotations while learning how to get the most out of your cooldowns.

Single Target Rotation

Aspect: Aspect of The Hawk or Aspect of The Iron Hawk

DPS Priority: Execute the following priority for optimal DPS.

  1. Hunters Mark Maintain debuff.
  2. Serpent Sting Apply once. Refresh with Cobra Shot.
  3. Explosive Shot on cooldown. Cast multiple with Lock And Load.
  4. Glaive Toss on cooldown.
  5. Kill Shot when target is below 20% Health.
  6. Black Arrow on cooldown.
  7. Arcane Shot to dump Focus.
  8. Cobra Shot to build Focus.

Maintain Hunters Mark and Serpent Sting at all times. Use Explosive Shot every time it’s off cooldown. When Lock And Load procs, quickly cast 3 Explosive Shot. Use Kill Shot, Black Arrow, and Glaive Toss on cooldown. Cast Cobra Shot while waiting on cooldowns or to refresh Serpent Sting. Use Arcane Shot to dump excess Focus, but reserve about 40 focus when Black Arrow is about to come off cooldown so you can instantly reapply.

AoE Rotation

For < 5 mobs, stick to the single-target rotation using Explosive Trap instead of Black Arrow and Multishot as your Focus dump. With > 5 mobs, use Multishot and Explosive Trap on cooldown. Multishot benefits from Serpent Spread to put Serpent Sting on all mobs.

Effective Cooldowns

These effective cooldowns are available if you chose them in your talent build.

These are effective cooldowns to try and incorporate into most all encounters.
