DPS Rotation & Cooldowns (5.4.8)
Maintaining a proper Rotation and using the right Cooldowns is essential to maximizing your Balance Druid. Use this guide to optimize your single target and AoE rotations while learning how to get the most out of your cooldowns.
Single Target Rotation
DPS Priority: Execute the following priority for optimal DPS.
- Moonfire Sunfire Maintain as much as possible.
- Starsurge on cooldown.
- Starfall on cooldown.
- Wrath or Starfire to build an Eclipse.
For single target DPS, the first thing you want to do is apply and maintain Moonfire and Sunfire at all times. Then, cast Starsurge and Starfall on cooldown. Your Eclipse buffs are handled using the following sequence:
Stage 1: Cast Wrath until you have the Lunar Eclipse buff.
Stage 2: Cast Starfire until you have the Solar Eclipse buff.
Repeat the Eclipse stages while maintaining DoTs and weaving in Starsurge and Starfall.
In AoE situations, you will want to start in Solar Eclipse and only use Wild Mushroom + Wild Mushroom Detonate if you are able to pre-plant them before the pull.
With 2-3 targets, apply Sunfire and Moonfire to all mobs and then continue with the single-target rotation on the highest health target. At 4+ mobs, continue to apply your Eclipse DoTs to targets as they’re gathered up, but otherwise spam Hurricane with Solar Eclipse and Starfall + Astral Storm with Lunar Eclipse.
These effective cooldowns are available if you chose them in your talent build.
These are effective cooldowns to try and incorporate into most all encounters.
