Followers

Diablo 3 provides the lone adventurer with a choice of followers to aid you on your quest. These followers each have their own personalities, strengths, and weaknesses. Using the right follower in the right situation can turn a defeat into victory.

This guide discusses the strengths and weaknesses of each follower and offers builds to use in the game. You can retrain your follower’s at any time so feel free to experiment with their builds!

Templar

The mighty Templar Kormac is obtained early in Act I and will serve as your dutiful companion. There is no demon that frightens the fearless Kormac!

Strengths: Survivability, Healing
Weaknesses: Damage

Equipment:

The Templar may use one-handed Axes, Daggers, Maces, Spears, and Swords along with Shields and Templar Relics.

Builds

Survival Build
This build is good for progressing in difficult areas, rare and champion monsters, and bosses. The Templar’s heals can provide just enough of an edge to down difficult foes.

General Build
This build is good for general questing and farming. The Templar provides a resource regeneration buff and crowd control that makes killing normal monsters a breeze.

Scoundrel

The devious Scoundrel Lyndon is obtained late in Act I and will opportunistically follow you on your quests. You are gathering lots of treasure and gold after all!

Strengths: Kiting
Weaknesses: Healing

Equipment

The Scoundrel may use two-hand Bows and Crossbows along with Scoundrel Tokens.

Builds

Kiting Build
This build is good for controlling monster movement, especially when fighting rare and champion monsters. The Scoundrel’s snares can make it much easier to kite deadly monsters.

General Build
This build is good for general questing and farming. The Scoundrel does more damage than the Templar and provides a critical chance buff to boost your damage.

Enchantress

The mysterious Enchantress Eirena is obtained early in Act II and will happily follow you on your quests. Eirena has waited 1,500 years to fulfill her destiny with the nephalem!

Strengths: Crowd Control, AoE Damage
Weaknesses: Healing

Equipment

The Enchantress may use one-handed Axes, Daggers, Maces, Spears, and Swords. She may also use two-handed Axes, Maces, Staves, and Swords. Finally, she will also equip Enchantress Focuses.

Builds

Crowd Control Build
This build is good for controlling groups of monsters. The Enchantress has multiple AoE charm skills that can quickly turn a fight around by buying you precious moments to recuperate.

General Build
This build is good for general questing and farming. The Enchantress does the most AoE damage of any follower and increases your attack speed to boost your damage.
